Part 1
12pm facing north
2pm, facing east
2:30pm, facing south east,
the angle creates a nice highlight
2:45pm, facing south
the direct sunlight turns the buildings into silhouettes
4:45pm facing east
the color temperature has warmed as the evening approaches
Part 2 Make a Daylight Portrait:
I have been using a daylight studio on the top floor of a building on 17th street for the past 5 years.
the studio uses north facing, and 60 degree angles windows to give a traditional painters style light. These 2 are portrait figure studies from a shoot this past weekend; 2 angles, and the bottom image is a film scan from a shoot from this summer where you can see a v-flat used as both a prop and fill reflector.

silhouette into the light
light is coming from the upper left, and i used a black
to intensify the black edge on the right.
wider BTS shot of the shot above
The light is coming from above and down and the vflat is
reflecting a fill light on the back right edge of the model.
These last two are images from my portfolio which I feel are good examples of using daylight for a portrait.
